hello spring!

We are enjoying the lovely spring weather and hoping it stays for a long time!! We aren't ready for the hot Kansas summer days yet!!

On our agenda for this afternoon...
a little snoozing on the back porch making a bis mess in the sand and water table

taking all the sand out of the sandbox, putting it on the sidewalk
and driving monster trucks on it

Only thing that can make the day a little sweeter...taking a walk to Baskin Robbins! I think we'll get right on that after my sweet, sunglass wearing baby girl eats!!
And I promise...the Baskin Robbins was Dylan's idea!! Hard to turn him down!

"I think she wants some music"

Dylan loves to plays musical toys for Saylor. He always thing she wants to hear music. It doesn't surprise me because he loves music and is always singing a song or asking to hear songs.
So, this morning Saylor was playing on her play mat and Dylan decided she wanted to hear some music. He ran off and came back with a singing bunny, chick, and a CD player with some nursery rhymes! He played all 3 and she had about had it after a couple minutes! I think Dylan is ready for Saylor to play and interact with him...poor guy, he has a while! She is awake a lot more and looks around all the time. That is a start, but as far as racing monster trucks with him...he has a bit longer to wait!

He's not done yet...

My Uncle isn't done watching his 3 kids grow up. We all said he has way too much to see and experience with his kids. He has soccer games to watch, graduations to attend, Dad's weekends to party at, tailgates to prepare for, aisles to walk down...and so much more. That is why we got great news yesterday! His kidney (along with a large tumor) were removed and the cancer hadn't spread!! Yay!!!! Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Praying

Praying for my Unlce Mike.

Praying for my 3 beautiful cousins.

Praying for my Aunt Sheryl. This past week my Unlce Mike found out that he has Kidney Cancer. Thursday he is having one of his kidneys removed.

My unlce is the type of uncle you need and want in your life. He is so much more than an uncle to me. He is like a second dad. He loves my kids like they are his own. He has a long life left to live. His kids are still young. They have so much more to do in their life that he needs to see and experience. My aunt needs him. She has more honey-do lists to make, more nagging to do, and more love to give.

Please pray for a successful surgery. Please pray that we only find out good, positive news after surgery about the cancer. Please pray that it has not spread.

Love you Unlce Mike and we are all praying for you.

My Life...

My life consists of lots of monster trucks...as you can see they are on the TV and on the floor! This child of mine is obsessed with anything that has wheels, but right now Monster Trucks are his favorite! And, he loves to watch TV in the oddest places! Whatever is comfy I guess!
Right now my life also consists of spending my days with this precious baby girl! She is just perfect and I feel like the luckiest mommy ever! I think she is close to smiling...what do you think? This is also a glimpse into my life...craziness and loudness!!! Just because there is a sleeping baby in the living room doesn't stop these 2 from playing with their dart guns!! With how loud they laugh during their battles, I can't believe Saylor never woke up! She might as well get used to it!

See...I told you I was lucky (and hey, more monster trucks on Dylan's PJs!!). Dylan loves to come and lay next to Saylor, look at her sleeping in her crib, tickle her, and let us know when she's hungry! She has such a great big brother!

The other night I was making dinner and this is what I kept getting to peek at!! No words from me on this one...just pure happiness!

My Sunshines

When I was young my mom would sing me the song "You are my Sunshine". It was always a song that was very special for me.
Once I had Dylan I would sing him the same song. I can remember how excited I was when he started singing parts of it with me! We call it our "Sunshine Song". It is something we sing just about every night as I am putting Dylan to bed.
Now I also get to sing it to Saylor. It is amazing how calm she gets when I sing it or even hum it to her.
I feel so blessed to have my two Sunshines!! Thanks mom, for singing me the Sunshine Song and for being such a great mom to me and grandma to Dylan and Saylor!

Dear Moon Sand...

You are not my friend.
If it were up to me, you wouldn't be welcome in our home.
You are a pain.
You are a mess.
I hate cleaning up after you.
But...my son LOVES you so you are welcome to come over.
Just not very often.
And you are welcome to make a big mess on my floor.
Only because after a few more playdates with you, you will be gone.
More of you ends up on the floor than on the table...and when you end up on the floor you get vacuumed up.
But daddy says he will buy more of you.
He must really love that son of his.

Love,
Dylan's Mommy

She's like a caged animal

Dylan loves looking at Saylor while she is sleeping. It reminds me of someone looking at a animal that is in a cage! But she is much cuter and sweeter!! He sometimes steps on something so he can get a better view but lately he just pulls down her bumper to check on her. Or hold her hand. Or to see if she's hungry. How stinkin sweet!!! "I think Saylor is hungry mommy." He ALWAYS wants to feed her. I think he just likes helping make her bottle and shaking it because he lasts about 1 minute while actually feeding her!

And Dylan got really good news today!! I called him in to Saylor's room while I was changing her. He took one look at her and in a really excited voice he said, "Her yucky belly button thing fell off and now we can give her a bath!!" He has been waiting for this moment! He is so excited to help with her bath. I hope he knows there will be a lot of crying and screaming from that little lady!

My little worker and cupcake

I am such a lucky momma! I am still in awe that I am the lucky and proud mommy of Dylan and Saylor. I look back in the car and think wow, there are 2 back there. I walk down the hall and get to check on 2 sleeping kids. I get to make not only a juice for a big boy but also a bottle for a baby girl. I dress 2. I bathe 2. I get to give double the kisses, double the hugs and double the love.

This little worker has been such a great big brother. He always wonders where Saylor is. He wants to help make bottles and asks to feed her. The feeding part lasts about 2 minutes then he's done and I get to take over! He cannot wait to give her a real bath and asks daily if the yucky thing on her belly button is gone!
He has still been his normal self too. He is loud. He runs his monster trucks all over the place. He jumps. He runs. He is all boy and Saylor better get used to it. So far she is. She sleeps through all of the loudness which is a good thing for mommy and daddy! And this little lady, I can't wait for her to make cupcakes with Dylan and I! She has been just perfect! She sleeps pretty good, as long as it is in her bed, with a blanket over her legs, and her fan on. Yes, she is already quite the princess!! We tried having her sleep in her pack and play in our room juts like we did with Dylan. Well, I guess that's not comfy enough for her!! She didn't sleep well at all, very restless and woke often. So we decided to try having her sleep in her crib at night and she does so much better. She falls asleep quickly and sleeps longer and more restful. She is a good eater, but doesn't eat as much as Dylan. She is a very content little girl. When she's awake she just soaks everything in. She is the perfect addition to our family! I have definitely been blessed with 2 very special children. I couldn't ask for anything more!

The Good Stuff

About 7 1/2 years ago a love story began. It all started in a smoky, loud, dark country bar! In that smoky, loud, dark country bar we had a first dance. We danced to The Good Stuff.

Oh how our thoughts of The Good Stuff have changed.

7 1/2 years ago The Good Stuff was...

a nice cold beer or Captain and Coke on a Friday night

old country songs

Goose Too

Electric Cowboy

Our Jobs

A roomy 2 bedroom apartment

Rowdy friends

Sleeping in on the weekends

But now...we truly know what The Good Stuff is...
