Crafting with my Little Man

As most of you know I love me some craft time.

And I especially love it when a certain 4 year old helps out.

I love that he's a boy but still loves to do crafty things with his momma.

Sewing, cooking, painting, just creating...he loves it all!

Last week Dylan decided to go watch daddy bowl for a while. On our way to pick him up Saylor and I stopped at the fabric store. Not sure why I went but I left with some super cute dinosaur fabric, coordinating flannel, and "fuzz"!

I knew it would make a perfect giant size pillow for his room!

Once we got back home and put Saylor to bed Dylan and I headed up to the sewing corner!

We started with sewing the pillow. I directed the fabric and he did the pedal! He loves to go fast, and thankfully on something like a pillow I can handle him going fast!

Once we had the pillow sewn he was ready to add the fuzz. This was his favorite part for sure!

He was amazed how much fuzz came out of the bag. he stuffed, and stuffed, and stuffed some more. I wasn't sure if the stuff was ever going to stop pouring out of the package!

Once the pillow was stuffed I sewed up the opening then it was time to try it out. It is huge and comfy. Perfect for a good book and 2 heads!

Dylan Man...

I will never forget all the fun times we have together being crafty. I am such a lucky momma! I look back at all the things we've created together and it brings a huge smile to my face. From the homemade cake we made for grandpa, to your first finger painting picture, all of our Potwin Pottery pieces, and everything in between..it has been an honor and privilege to have you by my side. I hope your creativeness continues forever and I hope you always have time to create something with me!

Day 3

Day 3 of spring break was cold....I mean fun! It started at my parents house. This little guy was making himself comfy in his undies (on backwards) and watching a little Max and Ruby. This picture makes him look SOOOO big, look at those long legs! After we got up and around we headed to Grandpa's work to say hi to everyone then went to the KC Zoo. It was very chilly, and I didn't dress my kids for the weather. We loved the polar bear. Our favorite part for sure. Saylor liked it the first few times it came around then she was done with this big, white thing!

She was upclose and personal with him. No wonder she didn't like it after the first few times!!

I love this of my dad...just soaking it all in. He loved spending the day with his grandkids (and me too)!! I am glad he took the afternoon off and went with us!

This was a very cold ride, but they had fun! Grandpa and his 2 buddies!!

It was a great break, now bring on SUMMER!!!!!!

Day 1

Day 1 of spring break was perfect.

We spent the morning around the house.

Playing. Napping (Saylor only). Cleaning (mommy only). Inviting the bug guy in for our every other month spraying. After naps we headed to the mall. We had a nice lunch and then did a little shopping. I promised Dylan a bike ride at the lake, but we had to head home so Saylor could take a quick nap.

Good thing we did, because while little Miss Saylor was snoozing we got in some b-ball. One of his favorite past times. Too bad the goal is too high for him. That's how he likes it though! I love how I got him up in the air. He just tried and tried and tried..he made a few.

He is quite the dribbler. He dribbles all the time. He has gotten pretty good at it too.
After Saylor woke up we loaded up the car with his new bike. We took a little 15 minute drive to the lake and spent a couple hours there enjoying the beautiful weather! We stared off walking/bike riding and stopped at a playground. Saylor LOVED this tunnel. She crawled back and forth for quite a while!
After they played we started back on the trail. We stopped a couple times so Dylan could explore and throw rock in the lake. Saylor loved sitting there and watching him. He was looking for big rocks to throw. He found some, but I wouldn't let him throw the really big ones in.

It was a wonderful day. I can't wait for summer so we can enjoy more days outside and hanging out together!

Spy Game

These pictures are not even close to being perfect.
They are blurry.
Her room is mess.
But this is the real deal.
Saylor and Dylan love to play what we call spy game.
It keeps them bust for several minutes.
And they laugh so hard while playing.
And all they do is crawl and run around these chairs hiding from each other. Found you brother!

I love this next one. There is just something about him jumping off her chair and her just watching him. Love it.

There is so much laughter when these two play their spy game. I am pretty sure Saylor has no clue what the point is, but she loves crawling around looking for her brother!

Manhappiness

A few weeks ago Dylan, Saylor, and I took a little trip West!
We went to Manhattan for the afternoon.
I LOVE that town.
I also love the ladies we went to visit.
Our cousins Courtney and Whitney.
Court is a senior (gasp!) and Whit is a sophomore at K-State.
These girls have been like little sisters to me since they were born.
I loved caring after them when they were my kids' age!
I babysat them a lot.
I have enjoyed watching them grow into beautiful, smart, and kind women.
I am proud to be their cousin.

I am also proud that Dylan happily wore K-State that day.

It was his idea.

I swear.

He looked so handsome in his purple.

Saylor looked pretty cute in her purple too!

I don't have to beg her to wear it.

She always wears it happily.

It better stay that way.

I need someone on my side in the house.

What a lovely afternoon it was! Can't wait to spend more afternoons with these 2 girls this summer when they are home and only 10 minutes away!!

Random...

Are you ready for some random...come along for the ride. It will be fun. I promise!!

This week my class started their state assessments. During conferences a couple weeks ago I had the parents sign little notes that I could leave for each student on their desk during testing weeks..we are on day 2 and some of them still can't figure out how I did it!! I hear them talking about the handwriting and how they know it's their dad's or mom's writing....so cute!! And, as I pass them out while they are in PE/Music I read a few of the notes...these parents are so sweet to their kiddos and have left such kind and encouraging notes!

This is my new favorite meal for lunch. I just realized it is considered a snack...maybe that's why they don't fill me up!! They are yummy. And even better with a little sour cream!

My son always asks to watch Billy the Exterminator. The way he says exterminator cracks me up!!

We are going back to Disney World this summer!! We went 2 years ago right before Dylan turned 3! We will be there during his 5th birthday...he is SOOOOO excited!! It will be a great week!!

My sis made Saylor a blanket for her birthday. It is awesome!! I am trying REALLY hard to get Saylor to lover her blanket from Aunt Ashley so she will be attached to it instead of a giant, ugly golden blanket like Dylan!!

Last Friday I decided I would email my parents to see if they wanted my kids for a night. It was a last minute decision and I am so happy I did it. I love having a random night with just my hubby. It is amazing what a night like that will do for your marriage!! It is needed at least once a month. And lucky for us, my parents are begging for Saylor and Dylan after 3-4 weeks without them.

My Dylan man is getting a new bed this weekend. He has been in his car bed since he was 2..it is time for a real bed!! He loves his car bed and feels very secure in it, I hope he feels the same about he new bed he picked out.

My favorite photographer (and great friend) took me camera shopping today. I am hoping this bad boy will be mine in a few weeks!!

It isn't even spring break yet and Tiffany and I are already planning things to do this summer. I love having my summers off and I love that I have a bestie with kids close to the same age as mine to hang out with.

I am so excited March Madness is here. I love filling out a bracket even though I never do well or even pay attention to how I am doing!! And honestly..I only care about doing better than a certain other team. And yes, I told my KU loving husband that!!!!! He thinks I am crazy.

I can't believe I only have a little over 2 months left with my 3rd graders. I have had almost all of them since they were itty bitty new 2nd graders. I love them like they are my own kids. I love their parents. They are my favorite group of kids ever. I get a tear in my eye when I think about the last day. I get a sick feeling when I think about them going off to 4th grade without me. Have I mentioned how fabulous they are?? If you knew them and their parents..you'd feel the same. Trust me.

On an even sadder (is that a word???) note..my baby MIGHT start kindergarten next year. As in August. Of 2011. Not August of 2012. That can't be right. He is not old enough to start kindergarten. He is still my baby. Ugh, this is the hardest thing I have had to think about as a parent...why did I think having a baby with a summer birthday was a good idea???

Outside

Any sunshine we get and temps above 50 we have been trying to get outside! We knew Dylan loved being outside and playing, and now we know Saylor does too! She cries when it is time to go in! Today Dylan and Seth went outside to play some basketball then Saylor and I joined them and we went to the backyard. I am SO ready for our yard to be green again and all of the trees and bushes to fill in. It is gives us so much privacy when everything is in full bloom!!
We also need to spend some tine getting the backyard cleaned up and getting Dylan's new trampoline put together. We should have a great spring and summer back there!! Now we just need warm weather to come and stay.

I can't believe this little boy of mine will be 5 and possibly starting kindergarten in the fall. Where has the time gone? He is growing up way too fast! And this girl. 1 year old. And lovin the swing. I don't think I can handle her growing up as fast as Dylan...maybe she can stay this age for a few more years!

So serious. And do you notice his "workin` jeans". These jeans had a small hole earlier in the week and I think he has worked on them some and made the hole a little bigger. They won't be the first pair that he puts a hole in!

She loves the slide. Laughs so hard every time she goes down. She is a little small to do this one on her own. She flips over when she does. But she has so much fun! I am going to have my hands full this summer with this little lady!

I love spending time playing with my babies. It was the perfect Sunday after a nice relaxing Saturday with my hubby while the kids visited grandma and grandpa Shaver!!

Saylor's Lollipop Party

Saylor's Lollipop Party was SO. MUCH. FUN. I was inspired by this! I bought the printables and went from there!! My great friend, Ken came and caught all of the moments! He's the best!!
My sister and I made all of the yummy treats (except for the cookies). I love how the mini cupcakes look on the tower. They are just the right size of cupcakes for me! But, we had the big ones too! I just love cupcakes, so much more fun that a cake!!

About a week before the party my sis emailed me asking if she could do Saylor's cake. I happily gave her permission and I LOVE how it turned out! I'd say Saylor was pretty happy with it too!

The fabric lollipop centerpieces were also a last minute decision! We would have made more, but they were pretty time consuming!! They looked so cute in all of the bright buckets on each table.

Cookie Dough Pops. Peanut Butter Pops. Cake Pops. DELICIOUS!
