Meet the Washburn Rural Girls Soccer team.
They won today!!
They were playing for 3rd place in state! Wow! 3rd in the entire state. Pretty darn cool.
Way to go girls!
Many of these girls have been friends for quite some time, and have played soccer together for a long time. I am lucky enough to be related to one of the stars! I don't know too many of the girls, but the ones I do know, are pretty incredible. They are smart, kind, funny, and just nice young ladies.
Good job girls!

This is, in my opinion, the prettiest and funniest star on the team!! She is also my lovely cousin Whitney. Whit graduated this year and will be going on to play soccer at Washburn University. So, So proud of her!! Here were the 2 cutest boys in the stands! Dylan, and his cousin Brady!!

Crayon Fun

What do you do when you have a bucket FULL of old crayons? You make new crayons of course!

I have had this bucket of crayons (from my classroom) in the trunk of my car since...November! I know, kinda embarrassing!!! Yesterday Dylan and I decided to do something with them!

First, we put all the ones without paper in a baggie.

Next, we worked VERY hard on taking paper off of the other crayons. We worked for about 30 minutes. We didn't get too many done, but enough! I love the way Dylan sticks his tongue out when he is working hard. Didn't Michael Jordan always have his tongue out when he was playiing basketball??

Then, we took our plastic hammer and went to town breaking the crayons.Next, we sprayed a muffin pan with non-stick spray and filled them about half way with different color crayons.
We baked them at 200 degrees for about 12 minutes. They won't be hard yet, just make sure they are all melted. They will harden as they cool down. Let them cool for an hour or so then pop them out. I had to use a knife to get some of them out, but they all came out. And no, the pan is not ruined!!Here they are all stacked up. use all red and green and use them during the holidays.

If you are having a green and blue (or pink and purple...) birthday party, make some in those colors, buy some coloring books, and hand out as party favors to kids??

I have a TON of old crayons left, you want to try this out let me know, I will send some your way! I don't think we will be making any more for a while!!

And one more of my underwear wearin' fool!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We no longer hate potty training! We now LOVE it! He is a pro after 2 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will say, he was a pro after about 4-5 hours really! Lets hope it continues!!

Dear Spider,
I don't know how you got in my car today.
I don't know why you chose to crawl on my son's car seat.
I know you were VERY small, but you scared him. A LOT.
I had to pull the car over.
I had to smoosh you and throw you on the ground.
I had to comfort my crying 3 year old in some random parking lot.
I had to convince him that you were gone, and it would be OK to get back in the car seat.
Please stay away from us. We don't like you.

New Favorite!

I have a new favorite song. Go here to fall in love with it too!! How could you not love a little Kenny Chesney! I would go out with him and drink too many beers, of course Seth would be there with me and drink too many captain and cokes! Does that make me a bad mommy?
Whenever I hear this song it makes me think of our pre-Dylan days and going out on Friday nights with our crew of Maggie, Becker, and Moe! At times it involved too many beers...just some times!!! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE being a mommy and would never want that crazy (but oh so fun) life again. But, I will be the first to say, that a night out every once in a while is just what this mommy needs!

Today is my last day of work until August 5 (cue the happy dance) so a night out (or an afternoon) is just want I need and want...and guess what...it is just what I am going to get!!!

Now I will ask again...does this make me a bad mommy??

I have a lot to say (imagine that!!)...

I thought about saving some of these things for posts later in the week...but I am a little impatient!
Today was the last day for kids at school! My dad and I started a new tradition this year...he came up and made pancakes for my students! I don't know who enjoyed it more, my dad or my 3rd graders! It was a lot of fun! That just shows how fabulous my dad is, he left his house at 6:30 in the morning and drove an hour just to make my students pancakes and spend the day with Dylan!
They of course went golfing then came home to play! When I got home this is what I saw in the front yard....That is proof that it was a good day! You can't see, but there are golf clubs, a bike, and the hose they used to water flowers also!

I told you Dylan loves golfing!

Last one for now...I made yummy Margarita cupcakes to share at work tomorrow! So easy and very good!

My baby boy is going to be 3 in about a month and a half! Wow, 3! That is crazy! Since he is such a fan of golf, we are going to do a golfing party with Seth's side--Dylan has 8 young cousins on Seth's side-so we will do a kid type party for them then a BBQ lunch with my family-since Dylan is the only kid under 13!
I am playing around with some invites for his party--what your thoughts??

The reason it says "put your golfin shirt on... is because Dylan calls all polo shirts golfin shirts. It is pretty funny! He will even tell complete strangers that they are wearing golfin shirts! He also doesn't like when I spike up his hair (but I do) so today I told him that's how golfers do their hair--so he was all for me spiking his hair!!!!

Take Me Out To The Ball Game...

We went out to watch our Nephew, Nathan, play baseball Thursday night! Dylan had fun watching the boys play and playing in the dirt with his cousin Gavin. I just love this picture of Seth, Dylan, and Nathan. Nathan sure does love his Uncle Seth. He is such a sweet boy. Every morning when I drop Dylan off at Grandma's Nathan will run out to carry in all of my things. His team won-big time. They were down by 10 or so and came back and won!

For Mother's Day my mom and I planted flowers!! I love planting flowers every spring with my mom! She does such a great job!!

From the beginning... About 7 years ago I noticed this guy at a bar. His name was Dave and he was wearing a K-State hat. Being the HUGE K-State fan that I am I smiled at him. A few minutes later, I decided I needed to go tell this guy Dave that I only smiled at him because of the powercat on his hat! Thank goodness I did that, because it turns out he had a very cute friend that was singing Kenny Chesney's song, The Good Stuff! His name was...Seth!!! Seth and I chatted that night and then went on. Through out the summer we continued to see each other out and about. Finally he asked my for my number and I happily gave it to him! I swore to myself that I didn't want to be in a relationship blah blah blah!! As I went back to college for my last year I kept making excuses to go back to Topeka, and I always happened to run into Seth!! How lucky for me!! After a week or two of pretending I didn't want anything to do with him, I realized that I was being crazy! I realized how fun and fabulous he was and I was falling in love! After 2 years of dating he popped the question. Nothing romantic...that isn't him! He did go to KC to talk to my dad, and that meant more to me than anything. We married (and that guy in the K-State hat from the first time we met, he was in the wedding...and actually gave that hat to my dad--he thinks he is the reason we are together)!! A few weeks after our 1st wedding anniversary we had Dylan. Our lives have never been better!!

You are a fantastic husband. I am one lucky girl. You are kind, honest, funny, handsome, and loving. I could not imagine life without you.
You are the most amazing father. Every time I see you and Dylan together I fall more and more in love with you. He is a lucky little boy. I hope you realize how much he looks up to you. He follows you everywhere and wants to be just like you.

The Best Day

The Best Day...I would have to say is June 30, 2006.
That was the day I become a mother.
Being a mom is the best feeling in the world.
It is a feeling of someone loving you unconditionally. Someone needing you. Someone to always play with, laugh with, cry with, and be with. I hope I am giving Dylan a lot of "best days". I think I am. I try to do all I can for Dylan, and I always hope he knows that.

Dylan,
I hope you know how much I love you. You are my biggest joy and my greatest accomplishment. I am so proud to be your mommy. I am proud to be the one that gets to hold your hand through Target. I am proud to be the one to cheer you on when you get a hole in one. I am proud to be the one you run to and give hugs to.
You give me so much happiness everyday. I enjoy every moment we spend together. I will always cherish the memories we are making.
I will never forget the day you were born. It was a Friday. Daddy brought you to me in the recovery room. You were the most beautiful baby I had ever seen. What do you think?

I saw this idea for family rules here. I thought I would give it a try for myself. Since I wasn't sure if I would like it or be able to do it, I cheated on it a bit! I didn't paint the canvas and I haven't put the modge podge over it yet. I also don't have the fancy scissors, so I tore the paper. I didn't think cutting the paper would look right! I also used my different styles of handwriting, I didn't look different ones up and copy them. I am not sure if I will finish it. I am thinking this weekend I will take the "rules" off and paint the canvas. I am thinking black or a light green or blue?? I am also going to put the modge podge on it. It only cost around $11 to make, so if I don't like it, no biggie! If I do, I think my hallway will be the perfect place to hang it!

Let the countdown begin!!!!!!!!

Dylan and I are doing a countdown every morning. We are counting down until summer begins. The kids only have 8 1/2 days left (our countdown includes the weekends too). Every morning he puts a sticker on there then he has to put one on his shirt! I am VERY excited for summer. I love my job, but I need a break from these kids (and I am pretty sure they need one from me too!).

This week is also Teacher Appreciation week. The parents do something different for us everyday. It is so nice to work in a school where the families do things for us. On Tuesday my head room parent brought in treats for the class, a candle for me, some other goodies for me, and this beautiful pot of plants! It is so nice to feel appreciated! I got some very nice cards from students and parents too-such a compliment!

And here is my class ( I won't keep this up for too long--feel kind of weird posting it on my blog-next year I am hoping to have a separate classroom blog!!).

I will admit, they haven't been the easiest class in the world. Some days wonder if I will be able to go one without pulling my hair out! But really, for the most part they are good kids. They want to learn. They want to please. They want to make me laugh.

I love teaching. I have wanted to be a teacher since 3rd grade when I had the fabulous Mrs. Murphy. I can only hope that I am a "Mrs. Murphy" to some of my kids. I hope that I am making a difference. I hope they know how much I truly do care about them. I hope they know that I only want what is best for them. I love seeing them in the mornings and hear them talk to each other about this or that. I love watching them figure something out or learn something new. I love watching them give each other high fives when they do well on a test. I love seeing how excited they get when they realize they accomplished something they didn't think they could.

Welcome ADORABLE Jaxson! My great friend Tabatha, had her VERY handsome baby boy Saturday!! Isn't he just beautiful! Tabatha and I worked together at Quincy for 3 years and she moved to Valley Center over the summer with her hubby Jason! This little guy is just what they needed to make their family more complete! Jason and Tabatha will be AWESOME parents! They will love having a little boy they can do boy things with! I know Jason is excited to take him out to his shop and build things with him (he built, from scratch, Jaxson's crib...let me just say, AMAZING!).

Tabatha and Jason,
You will have days that are challenging. Days that you just want to sleep for more than 2 hours at a time. But you will have SOOOOO many more days that you will just sit a stare at this miracle. Days were you will think, I want a million more (OK, maybe not a million). Days were you will wonder, where did my baby go. I know it doesn't seem possible, but you will fall more and more in love with him everyday. Being a parent is absolutely the biggest joy in the world. There is nothing on Earth you can even compare it to. Enjoy every moment!

Hi Jaxson. Be nice to your mommy and daddy. Give them a lot of love and let them have a little sleep. Try not to spit up too much, they say it isn't fun to clean up. As soon as you can, say "Go Wildcats" they will really like that! Being a boy is tons of fun. You get to play with toys and go outside and get dirty. I can't wait to meet you and show you how to golf, bowl, play football, baseball, basketball, and mow the lawn.
