Going fishing...mommy style

Dylan has been asking to go on a picnic all summer long. I keep telling him we've been on picnics. But I guess going to a park, eating lunch on a picnic table is NOT a picnic in his mind. He wanted a picnic on the ground with a blanket. So that's what we did today. Let me just tell you...picnics on a picnic table is more my style!!

He also wanted to go fishing. I am not the fishing kind of mommy! I will go watch him fish but I have no clue how to set up a fishing pole and actually fish. So, during our picnic we went fishing...momma style!!

Step 1: dip bread stick into cheese.

Step 2: Catch a fish.

Step 3: EAT

Now, that is the type of fishing I can handle!!

Omaha Getaway!

We spent the weekend in Omaha! We left Friday morning and our plans were to just stay one night, but Saturday we decided to stay another night! I am so glad we did!!
This is how it stayed in the car almost the entire trip, except Saylor was usually looking at Dylan smiling! She didn't sleep much because she was too interested in Dylan! First thing we did when we got to the zoo was the aquarium! Dylan wanted to she the sharks! It is such an amazing aquarium! I love the penguins! I guess Saylor didn't care much for the penguins, she liked looking at the people next to her!

My 2 little ones! They did so good! We spent a couple hours at the zoo Friday and 4 1/2 hours there on Saturday and no problems at all! Saylor was so happy and content in her stroller and Dylan was just as happy walking along with us!

The Polar Bears. This guy is so much fun to watch! Last time he was a swimming fool. This time, he didn't swim much. Still, one of our favorites to see.

Whenever Dylan hopped on the stroller for a ride, he would lean into Saylor and kiss her or talk to her!! LOVE this stroller!! Dylan can hop on or off as he pleases!!

We stayed at CoCo Keys. It is an indoor water park/hotel. It was perfect. Dylan LOVED every minute of it! I liked that we could have fun and not worry about Saylor being in the sun too much. We sat and watched Dylan do this slide hundreds of times! He was only supposed to go on his bottom...but he was sneaky and would go on his tummy. Whenever a life guard would walk by he would wait and then go down on his belly when they couldn't see. It kind of made me laugh!! I shouldn't have let him, but he was having so much fun. He also loved standing under a bucket that 200 gallons of water would dump out! I was so proud of him! This is a kid that didn't even want to swim 2 months ago and now is standing under 200 gallons of water!! He thought it was awesome, and he almost lost his pants one time...that's how hard it comes down!

And this is how we ended our last night...2 sleeping kids by 8:00! Dylan asked to leave the pool at 7:45 and he was out in no time once we got to our room! Sunday morning he was mad that we couldn't stay longer though!

And the car ride home...our 2 kiddos holding hands! The love they already have for each other amazes me!

Like Mother Like Daughter

I was at my mom and dad's earlier this week. My mom, the kids, and I did some shopping one day. My mom came down and we just looked at each and laughed! Both black shirts, jean capris that rolled up on the bottom, and the EXACT same pair of flip flops! That is not unusual for my momma and I! We seem to do this often, and not on purpose! I just love my mom so much! She is one of my favorite people to hang out with. I am blessed to have her so close, and at a moments notice we can jump in our cars and be together to shop in 30 minutes! She's the best!!

Like I have said before...Dylan loves art.

He loves to create masterpieces.

And let me tell you...everything he creates is a masterpiece.

I love getting out his art supplies and just letting him go wild. He loves it too He just sits and works. I sit and make a few masterpieces too. It is a nice time for us.

And when we are done he hangs a few up. He loves using the tape. I love walking in his room and seeing him proudly hang a new picture up! He also likes to share his art. We currently have his work hanging in his room, Saylor's room, our room, the kitchen, and the playroom.

Why spend money on art when you can display your child's!!

Splash Cove

Saturday the kids and I went to Kansas City to swim with my parents while Seth golfed in a tournament! I found this fun pool while I was looking for something on the internet...and I knew we had to go sometime this summer! It was a blast, and we will be going again...very soon hopefully!!
This pool is great for Dylan, the entire pool was 4 feet or under and this entire area with 3 slides just for younger kids! There really wasn't much for older kids, which is kind of nice!! He went down the green slide twice. The second time a HUGE bucket of water dropped right on top of him when he came out. He was done with that slide after that! I don't blame him, It was a bucket of water that was the size of a bath tub...so LOTS of water right on him!! He LOVED this slide. He went down so many times! The first few times I had to go with him or my dad had to, then he just went on his own. He sure hisn't the bravest little thing, but that's just fine! He has to take his time to do things then he usually loves it!

He also enjoyed climbing up on the rope! I always took the stairs!

Little Miss Saylor enjoyed herself too! She really likes the water and just chills while her big brother plays! Every time we go swimming she ends up falling asleep in my arms! Good thing Dylan is big enough to play in the pool on his own so I can sit back in the shade and hold Saylor!

We spent almost 3 hours here today, worth every penny and the hour drive! Can't wait for our next trip!

Birthday Parties 1, 2, and 3

Dylan had 3 parties...yes 3!!
Party #1 was with Seth's family. It was all about Lightening McQueen and Cars! It was pretty low key...cousins, pizza, cake, and playing!!


Party #2 was with friends! Well, my friends and their kids! It was a Monster Truck
Party! It was a lot of fun for the boys!!

And party #3 was in July 3rd with my family! Dylan got an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins, he has wanted one for a while now! It was yummy!!
I kept all 3 of Dylan's parties simple this year! I have learned in the past 3 years that all he cares to do is play and hang out...so I let him! But beware...turning 5 is a bog deal, so we may have to do a big party!! I also realized...my kids may not have the best looking cakes, but they taste good and are made with lots of momma's love!!
