Warning: Adult Langauge Used In Post

Well, it happened...my sweet, innocent, handsome baby boy has done it...he's used his first bad word.
Well, unless you count him singing "Toes in the water, ass in the sand" as using a bad word!!!!! With that one though I think he considers "ass in the sand" as the entire bad word!!

Yesterday while at the store with Grandma Packard he couldn't find something they were looking for. Instead of getting upset and crying, or throwing a tantrum he just threw his hand down and very calmly said "ahh damn it". When asked where he learned it from he blamed it on Seth and I. Seth said he will take the blame since I don't say "ahh damn it". He said my word is "shit"!!!!!

So, we talked with Dylan about it and that it isn't appropriate to say. Hopefully we won't have to deal with it again. However, I know we will. I know we will have to deal with things far more difficult than a simple "damn it". Oh, the joys of parenting. I wouldn't trade it for the world!!

And, if anyone is interested...4 weeks from today we will be meeting Saylor Rene`. Oh shit, I have a lot to do in 4 weeks.
And we wonder where he gets it from!!!!!

Itr's War!

This has been going on a lot in my house! Dylan and Seth love to run around the house and shoot each other! It is so funny to watch. I just sit on the chair and enjoy the VERY loud giggles! As I sit and watch and listen to this many times day it makes me think of how our life is right now. We are a family of 3...soon to be a family of 4. I cannot wait to add to our family. I know Saylor is going to fit right in. Things are going to change. Our only child, our precious first born, the one I call my favorite is going to have to adjust. A lot. He will now be my favorite boy. He will now be a big brother. I know he will be able to fill those shoes like a champ! He is so easy going and really does go with the flow.

I know in these times of changes Dylan and his daddy will find time to do "boy stuff" while Saylor and I rest! I am so lucky to have a husband like Seth. He is willing to do whatever. He will take Dylan to have daddy son night when I need a break and he will be willing to stay home with
Saylor so I can have alone time with Dylan. He will also be fine staying home with both when I just need to go to Target (not to shop but to get away for a while!!!). That makes me happy. Happy to know he's not scared to be with a newborn and a 3 1/2 year old!

Could I be any luckier? I think not!

Too Fast

He is growing up way too fast!! Shaving and he hasn't even started Kindergarten!! What's next dating???!!!!

Dylan Time

I love spending time with this little guy.
One of our favorite things to do is go to Potwin Pottery and pick something out to paint. It was a Jeep bank this time.
I know in 6 short weeks time alone with this little guy won't be as easy to come by. I am SO very excited to welcome our new baby girl but the changes that we will experience will be challenging I am sure. I hope whatever changes come our way Dylan always knows how much we love him and that I always take the time to do our special things we love to do together...just mommy and Dylan!

Pretty in Pink

We will start with the SPARKLES!! When I was pregnant with Dylan I was set on having a chandelier if we had a girl. Since we had a fantastic little man I passed on the chandelier...but this time around I got it! Seth wasn't so sure but I didn't care. She was getting a chandelier and he was hanging it!! It is just what her room needed!! Seth said in his 10 years of doing electrical work he had never hung a chandelier in such a small room with low ceilings. I am also pretty certain that he has never hung one in such a special room!

And her shelf...still need some accessories but I like the way it turned out. We have had this shelf for many years in another room in the house but it worked perfect in Saylor's room. I changed out the knobs to match her dresses!

Her crib and her first doll!! I love the bedding that we went with. I had another bedding set ordered from Target for months but they kept delaying it so I cancelled and found 2 others that I liked. After sitting in USA Baby with my mom FOREVER I went with this one and I am so happy I did!! I love the pink with black and green accents! Above her crib will be a big S and her name. Hope to get that up this week!

Her bow holder and lamp (that I made by the way!). I love the way they turned out!

There are also 3 flower hooks for her headbands. Her dresser came with white knobs but I wanted crystal ones. After seeing these pink ones at Hobby Lobby I decided to go with them. My mom and I liked them better than any crystal ones we had seen! They add a perfect touch to her white dresser!!

Her chair (it was also Dylan's) and bookcase. The pillow on her chair says "Saylor" in pink! The little table next to her chair we already had also. It matches the furniture perfectly.

And her ribbon wreath (I also made this!!) that you see as you walk down the hall towards her room. I love how it turned out!

We still need to add a few finishing touches, but I love how it is coming along. I will post more as we go but for now my bed is calling my name!!!

Dylan's Room

I will start Dylan's little room tour with my favorite part! Something that he got for Christmas that I know will be a treasure to him (and me) forever. Something that he doesn't really find special now (he is still hooked on his golden blanket) but I know he will someday. A quilt his Aunt Ashley made for him. My sister is pretty darn amazing when he comes to a sewing machine. Considering she started sewing about 5-6 years ago and quilting less than a year ago, she is AMAZING! I wish I had the patience and talent to sit down and sew!!
Several months ago Ash had Dylan pick out some fabric for a quilt. Let me tell you, he picked some very random patterns, but Ashley made it all work perfectly. And it matches Dylan to a tee. It has lots of different sports represented, a giraffe print (his favorite animal), school buses (not sure the point of that one), and KU and K-State material! I love the details she put into and the mix of patterns and colors. It is absolutely beautiful. I can't wait for Dylan to get older and really understand the amount of love that was put into this quilt. All for him, all from an Aunt that loves him more than anything. So very special!

And check out the back! A gold course pattern. How cool is that!! I could just stare at it all day long. I am now wondering when mine is coming! My parents have one in the works and I am sure she has something up her sleeve for Miss Saylor, so I have to be on the list somewhere. Right Ash???!!!

Now on to the room tour...

we redid Dylan's room a bit. Paint stayed the same and furniture stayed the same but the theme changed! We decided that a big brother needed a new room!! Luckily it was done for very little money! We started by taking down the sports wall decals that were up and put Disney Cars wall decals up. I like that they don't look cartoonish, but more vintage. They are actually very cute and fit perfectly in the white border that has always been there! I also made the letters to spell out SPEED. I didn't want to do his name so the word speed fit perfectly and the 5 white knobs were already there from when his name hung there.

He also got this Cars rug from Santa. For those of you familiar with Cars, this is like a map of Radiator Springs! Very fun to play on! And notice all of the cars there...perfect for a Cars obsessed boy (and his daddy)!!

The white cubbies he has had for a while, and all of the baskets hold some of his clothes. We just moved them and set them up differently. Here you can also catch a glimpse of his Lightning McQueen TV!! Oddly enough he doesn't watch it as much as we thought. Which is good! He likes to play movies and then goes about and colors or plays while it's on! It is nice at night and in the mornings though, he can lay in his bed and watch a show for a while, which is his little ritual at night time and morning time!

On the other wall he has some more shelves that he has had for a while. I just organized them and took out some of the books to put in Saylor's room. I also need to change the pictures above--they are old!

And then his bed. He got his car bed when he turned 2 and then for Christmas this year he got Cars bedding! Seth also came home one night with a nice Cars poster. Not my style, but Dylan (and Seth) like it! I still need to buy a poster frame for it...just to make it look a little nicer!!!

The last thing to do is new curtains. My sister has the material to make them. They will be black and white checked, like his letters!!

I have said it before, I really don't like character themed things for clothing or room decor, but I think his room turned out pretty cute. Just enough non-character things to not make it look cheesy! And this is what Dylan loves, so why not!

Christmas Morning

Christmas Eve Dylan left cookies and milk out for Santa. He was a little concerned that Santa would get a tummy ache if he ate too many cookies. Last year Dylan and I painted this plate for Santa's cookies to go on. I can't wait to take Saylor to paint one of her own! Santa had to come very late that night because some 3 year old little boy would not fall asleep. He was just hanging out in his bed wondering what was going to happen once he did fall asleep!

Christmas morning I woke up early because I couldn't sleep, so I was able to get ready and start the monkey bread (which turned into an oven fire) to take to my aunt's house. Around 8:00 we woke Dylan up and asked him if he thought Santa came. He walked out in the living room and when he saw the tree he said, "he did come!!" He was very surprised!

He could tell which gifts were for him, they were wrapped in Cars wrapping paper! He picked one and got started!

Notice Seth's fancy Christmas shirt again. He was quite proud of that $5 shirt. All of the family loved it too. He wore it to every house we went to!


When Dylan opened these he was very excited that him and daddy could each have a gun to play with. Luckily I haven't found a ton of foam darts all around the house.

And all of his cars! I think Dylan now has all of the Disney Cars. This was Seth's thing this year. It was like an adventure for him to find all of them. He would get home from working in another town and he would have 2 or 3 more. I think every different WalMart we would see he would have to check to see if they had any that we were missing. I even had to get online to order Snot Rod because he couldn't find it in the stores. He was very proud of himself! And to now hear Dylan and Seth playing with the cars and acting out parts of the movie..it makes it all worth it!
