Happy 4th

This song always makes me think of the 4th of July. Not because it is played a hundred times on that day. Not because it is about The USA. But because it makes me think of 4th of July when I was growing up. Every year we would set up lawn chairs in our driveway and watch the parade. We were so lucky that the parade route in our town went right down our street. It was a great parade and something I will always remember. Later in the afternoon we would head to old town Lenexa (where we lived) and look at all the stands that would be set up. In the evening we would watch the fireworks show that was put on by the town. We would always seem to be close to the band and they would ALWAYS play God Bless The USA. I would stand next to my dad and sing along with him. It is a song that, know matter what day of the year it is played, I think of my dad.

Now that I have my own family, we are making new memories, that I hope Dylan will always remember. 4th of July is Seth's favorite holiday. He LOVES fireworks! I have never in my life lit a firework, so it is something new to me. Every year we go over to his parent's house, have a BBQ and once it gets dark enough they guys (Seth, his brother, and dad) have a hay day!! It is fun to watch!! What isn't fun, is watching them sweep up the mess for an hour or so once they are done!!!

I would say Seth is passing it down to Dylan!! This is just the beginning! Seth and his dad will make another run to the fireworks stand later this afternoon.
