51 weeks

Dylan has been a big brother for 51 weeks.
51 weeks ago he was an only child.
He was used to being my one and only baby.
We spent lots of time together.
We would decide on a whim to go bowling,
Go play putt putt.
Make cupcakes.
Do anything.
It brought tears to my eyes to think that he wouldn't feel loved when his sister arrived.
To think that he wouldn't have all of my attention.
To think that I wouldn't be able to give him all of my attention.
It had been the 3 of us for 3 1/2 years.
And all of a sudden it was going to be 4 of us.
We were thrilled.
Couldn't wait to meet Saylor.
Couldn't wait to start our new life as a family of 4.
We knew we would love her to pieces.
And let me tell you, Dylan has been an awesome big brother the past 51 weeks.
He has loved his sister since the moment he walked in the delivery room.
I didn't cry the moment my babies were born.
Maybe because I didn't get to hold them right away.
Maybe I am just weird!
But the moment Dylan walked in the hospital room to meet his sister, I cried.
My baby boy was meeting my baby girl.
He has talked sweetly to her.
Has given her many names.
Calls her sweetie and honey ALL.THE.TIME.
He takes care of her.
Gets things for her.
I couldn't ask for anything more when it comes to siblings.
I am very lucky.
I love watching them together.
I love being their momma.
Not only is my Saylor girl turning 1 in a week, but my Dylan man is celebrating is 1 year anniversary as a big brother. And what a successful year they have both had!
