See, I can say this because I am an idiot when it comes to sports. I KNOW I LOVE my Wildcats, but that is about all. I don't read stories about them, I don't keep up with their stats, I don't even know who their starting quarter back is. I do know what the quarter back does though, thanks to my sister and all her lessons my first year at college!! She really taught me a lot about football those first few years!! I also don't know if all of those sports guys on ESPN and in the magazine are saying we will be awful and lose a bunch of games...and you know what, I DON'T CARE. Yes, yes, yes...of course I would rather we win. But we might not do that a lot this year. Or next year...but they are still the Wildcats, and I will still love them no matter what. I grew up in an area of Kansas were NO ONE admitted they were K-State fans. Yes, it was also the 80s and we sucked. Big time. But I didn't care. I wore my purple (along with the rest of my family) and I showed pride in the school I love. I still do and I ALWAYS will. Just because we have had a few bad seasons, and will have a few more bad ones, K-State will always be my one and only. I don't know anything else, and I like it that way. I am a PROUD Wildcat!!
I am also one of those lucky K-State fans. Why, you ask...well I was at K-State during their great years. I saw way more wins than losses. During my 4 years losing wasn't something we did. We won just about every game. You would have to ask my sport fanatic sister to see what the exact stats were. But I know, we had more Ws than Ls. We went to a bowl game every year I was there. We were in the top 25 most of the time. ESPN came for game day. Lee Corso put on the fabulous Willie head. WE WERE AWESOME. People talked about us. Not just people from Kansas but people everywhere. It was awesome. I sat in the 2nd row of the games, I was on the jumbo-tron, I knew all the songs, cheers, traditions, and it was such an incredible experience. By far my most favorite memory from college. It is one of those things I will always remember.
So, when I go back to Manhattan Saturday, I will have on my purple K-State shirt and Powercat tattoo and I will be happy. I will know I am in a place where I have something in common with everyone around me...we all love our Wildcats. We all want to see another Wildcat Victory. We all want to yell "good for another Wildcat touchdown", chant "eat em up eat em up KSU" do that Wabash, and sing our Fight Song and Ala Mater. I will also get to see Bill Snyder back on the field. He will probably be wearing his K-State kackie pants, polo shirt, old style Nikes, and his legendary glasses. He probably has a few more grey hairs, he is a few years older, but he is back. Back to K-State. Back were he belongs. And I for one can't wait.
Go Cats!!!

Love it!!!
You have absolutely no idea how extremely jealous I am. :*( I want to go so bad this weekend!!!!! I know exactly what you are saying and feel exactly the same way. I grew up listening to K-State football games on the radio every Saturday with my dad because we sucked way too bad to be on TV. I however was a big dork, I could tell you every player's name, number, year in college, position, stats...hometown... ha ha The best memory from college is tailgating all morning/day then waiting at the gates and running through them towards the front row when they finally opened!! And loving every single second whether it was 110 or a blizzard!
LOVE this post!! Unfortunetaly around this place, all I'm hearing about is that other team (from down south). Oh, man...the days of fighting for which game will be played on the TV. Of course, he'll state that K-State's not good enough to be on TV, which thus solves our problem.
